Student Designs Are Ready For The Catwalk

Student designs are ready for the catwalk

Budding young Tamworth fashion designers are looking forward to see their work being modelled at a prestigious fashion show.

Six students from the TORC Campus Vocational Centre (Tamworth) entered the Midlands Young Fashion Designer Awards 2008 with a variety of creative fashion designs.
The Awards are open to individuals from 16-22 years of age and stipulate that entries must be living or have been educated in the Midlands region.

All the students who entered are in Year 11 at school and are studying the BTEC First Diploma in Art and Design, which is run at the TORC Campus Vocational Centre in partnership with Tamworth & Lichfield College.

Rachel Richardson-Jones, Design Tutor at TORC Campus Vocational Centre commented:
“Six students originally entered the competition and three got through to the second stage and now two have made it to the final. I’m so proud of them all and I really hope they enjoy the final.”

The two student finalists are Lauren Knight from Wilnecote High School and Nicola Allsopp from Woodhouse Business & Enterprise College.
They will be attending the final with another twenty two finalists from around the region on September 27th in the Pavilions Banqueting suit in Birmingham. The final will feature a fashion show that will showcase all the entrants’ designs and the winners will receive awards and prizes.
