Learner Support Fund
WHAT IS THE LEARNER SUPPORT FUND?
The Learner Support Fund is a fixed amount of money provided by the Learning & Skills Council. The purpose is to enable full and part time students who are facing financial hardship to follow a programme of Further Education.
HOW THE FUND WORKS
Funds are awarded to individuals according to greatest need. Help may be given towards the costs incurred by undertaking the course of study, eg travel, childcare, equipment, and text books. Help may be in the form of a full or part payment of costs, or a loan.
HOW TO APPLY
Ask for an application form from the Reception desk at the Tamworth or Lichfield Campus.
AM I ELIGIBLE?
In order to enable funds to go to those in greatest need, the Learner Support Fund is means tested. The form asks you to provide details of evidence of your income and expenditure.
A copy of your means tested benefit book or pay slips (if employed) must support your application. Students who are 16-19 must provide evidence of their parents income.
HOW ARE PAYMENTS MADE?
Decisions are usually reached within 3 weeks of receipt of your application form. You will receive a letter detailing any award made to you. Payments for childcare are made directly to the provider. You must provide accurate information about sessions and the provider.
