UCAS and University Application Information

UCAS

Full Time Courses

Most applicants have to apply for a full time degree, HND or Foundation Degree via the UCAS on line application system, simply called “Apply”.

You can usually start the application form mid-June of the year you are applying in. You will normally apply one year ahead i.e. send off form in September 2007 for entry in September/October 2008.

Many of the details required for “Apply” are personal. You do not have to know your final choices. You can go in and out of the system as often as you wish until you are satisfied that the form is complete. The college Careers Department will help you with the form and will keep checking it until it is correct.

At this point in your life this is probably one of the most important things you have ever done. Therefore, the Careers Manager will not approve for sending to UCAS until it is as strong as possible.

What does “apply” consist of?

In two parts – applicant part and reference (usually done by your course tutor). The applicant part is split into sections – Personal Details, Choices, Education, Employment, Statement. Each part has to be completed. It is a lot easier to fill the form in if you have all your information and research to hand. The UCAS website contains lists of information to help and the form has many ‘Help’ sections.
