Tamworth and Lichfield College is part of a group of Staffordshire Colleges linked with Staffordshire Universty (called SURF). We offer higher education course HNDs and Foundation degrees mostly at Lichfield. Follow the SURF.ac.uk link to find out more.
Aim higher without leaving home
More and more students every year are choosing to study higher level courses at Tamworth and Lichfield College in partnership with Staffordshire University at our Lichfield Campus.
What do we offer?
Full time Higher National Diplomas (HND) and part time Higher National Certificates (HNC), which are:
- well established and widely recognised qualifications

- a progression route to an honours degree

Full-time and part-time Foundation Degrees
- Modern Higher Education qualification
- Developed in liaison with employers
- Emphasis on work-based learning
- Equivalent to the first 2 years of an honours degree
- Progression route to an honours degree
- Professional development for those in employment

What are the entry requirements?
Minimum of one of the following:
- One 'A' level pass
- AVCE Double Award/GNVQ Advanced
- BTEC National/OCR Level 3
- NVQ 3
- Access to HE Certificate
- Mature students are considered individually
- Other qualifications equivalent to the above
What does it cost?
- Full-time Foundation Degrees and HNDs are £2,200 per annum.
- Tuition Loans are available.
- New entrants for 2008 have a better chance of receiving a grant for full time higher education courses. If the family income is less that £25,000 a full grant worth £2,835 per year will be available. The upper limit for a partial grant has risen from £35,000 to £60,005. You may also be entitled to a university bursary.
- Most students should be eligible for a student loan/tuition loan. How much you get will be assessed by your local education authority (Student Finance Service).
- Loans are repayable after the course finishes when you are earning £15,000+ and collected direct from your earnings. Graduates will have the option of taking a 'repayment break' of up to 5 years.
- Some students will be eligible for extra help depending on their circumstances. Disabled Student Allowances are also available
- Help is available for study on part time HE courses. Part time costs vary and are set by the college. Course grants and part time fee grants may be available.
