Governors
The Corporation is made up of a variety of members from industry, commerce, higher education and public service. These members meet regularly throughout the year to ensure that the college runs smoothly and efficiently with the best interests of all our students at heart. They believe that all students are entitled to good quality education and training and this is reflected in the mission statement of the college.
The Corporation includes the Principal of the College as well as some representatives elected by staff and students.
Ray Faulkner
Chairman of Governors. Early years in management training and work-study with BTR and Robirch; General Manager - Palitoy, Malta; later with Pulsafe in Tamworth) - Deputy Chief Executive of the Group; Chair Tamworth section of Staffordshire Partnership.
Ken Haden
Partner of Haden Ritchie, Tamworth based firm of architects. Attended King Edward Grammar School, Aston and completed one year of accountancy training before embarking on career as structural engineer, gaining ONC/HNC through FE colleges. Current role with Haden Ritchie is concerned with admin, site management and new business. Member of board of the Tamworth Chamber of Commerce for 5 years and member of Tamworth Rotary for 9 years holding offices of Chairman and Secretary.
Sue Arnold
Heads a PR and Marketing business. Has held directorships and has served on several management committees. She was formerly Chairman of the South Staffordshire Chamber of Trade and Chair of Business Link - Staffordshire.
Nigel Baxter
Non-teaching staff representative. Nigel has worked at the College since January 1999 as the Careers and Higher Education Guidance Co-ordinator.
John Brough
Governor; Headteacher at The Friary School, Lichfield since September 1995 - previously Deputy Head at John Taylor High School, Barton-under-Needwood. Born in the Potteries, graduating in Modern Languages at King's College, London.
Steve Daniels
Senior Partner with Tamworth-based accountancy firm, Philip Barnes & Co. A graduate of Keele University in Modern Languages and a fully qualified Accountant, being a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA). He lives in Tamworth and is married with two children.
David Foster
Governor and member of Finance Committee; Tamworthian; Solicitor specialising in Child and Matrimonial law as partner with David J Foster & Co.
Alan Gwilliam
HR Manager for Inalfa UK, a Dutch-owned car components firm based in Kingsbury which employs approximately 170 people. Council member on Tamworth Chamber of Commerce, is also a member of the Institute of Personnel Directors.
Steve James
Steve is managing director of a local chemical company and has experience in finance, marketing and management. He has been a parent governor of Friary School in Lichfield and was chairman of its finance committee.
Valerie Kelly
Born and bred in North Yorkshire. Valerie is a retired primary school teacher and is married to a teacher with three grown-up children and four grandchildren. Lives in Burntwood. Has attended Lichfield College since September 1992.
Tim Legge
Tim is the nominee of Staffordshire County Council. He is the Inspector of Secondary Schools for Tamworth and East Staffordshire Districts and is involved in specialist school status. He is also responsible for SATS testing. Tim also works for several voluntary bodies.
Robert McDonald
MD of National Training Resources Ltd. Former Chairman of Mercia Training and Good Hope Hospital League of Friends, Director of Staffordshire TEC from 1991-98 and Chairman of Investors in People Recognition Panel. Director of Tamworth Chamber of Commerce and former Director of Business Link Staffordshire and East Mercia Chamber of Commerce. Fellow of Chartered Institute of Accountants, Assessor with European Foundation for Quality Management. Awarded MBE in 2002 for services to training.
Andy Minifie
Group Managing Partner with Haines Watts, Chartered Accountants of Sterling House Tamworth.
Rob Pritchard
Tamworth Borough Councillor since 2004 and member of Fazeley Town Council since 2007. Elected to Tamworth Borough Council at age of 22. Chairman of Environment and Community Safety Scrutiny Committee in 2004. Took on Corporate Governance and Service Improvement portfolio in 2005.
Paul Richards
Joined Staffordshire University as Deputy Vice-Chancellor in September 1999 having previously been chief executive of the WM Development Agency for 8 years. He undertook management training with Cunard before graduating from the University of York as a mature student.
Hazel Squire
Teaching staff representative. Hazel joined the college in 1999 coordinating level 3 business and progressed to the position of Deputy Head of School in Business and IT in 2004. She studied as a mature student gaining an HND in Business and Finance at an FE college and a degree in Economics with Staffordshire University.
Rita Wilson
Rita is a local person, having studied for her Business Studies Diploma at this College before going on to take a degree in Business Studies and a Master's in Industrial Relations. After working in personnel management for engineering/manufacturing companies for some years she moved into the public sector and is now Strategic Director for Organisational Development at Lichfield District Council where she is responsible for a range of corporate services.
